The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to support an NSF-funded project titled "Quantifying tectonic and biologic controls on erosion using detrital thermochronology." The project investigates how vegetation and tectonics interact to control long-term erosion and sediment flux through geologic time. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be mentored by Dr. Andrea Stevens Goddard and will work with a collaborative research team including the PI, graduate students, and external collaborators.
Responsibilities include sample collection (core facility visit), laboratory analyses, data interpretation, thermal history modeling, and mentoring students. In addition to research activities, the postdoc will participate in the project's education and outreach initiatives, including engagement with Indiana high school teachers and students focused on the subsurface geology of the Midwest. The candidate will have access to a fission track analysis laboratory and equipment for (U-Th)/He thermochronology sample preparation.

This is a full time position with healthcare benefits. The initial appointment for the position is 1 year, and may be extended to a second year upon successful performance and funding availability. An ideal anticipated start date is between August – December 2026, but can be arranged to suit the candidate. For full consideration, applications should be received by May 4, 2026;

A strong candidate should have a background in one or more of the following disciplines: low-temperature thermochronology, stratigraphy, tectonics, basin analysis or a related field.
