PSYCHOLOGICAL & BRAIN SCIENCES (BL-PSY-IUBLA)

The Neuroscience of Mind and Behavior Lab (NiMBLe) located within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University conducts research that combines behavioral, cognitive, and neuroimaging techniques to uncover how social cognition changes across the lifespan in both healthy and pathological aging. The lab also investigates stigma associated with mental illness and addiction, using behavioral and social neuroscience approaches to study how people process, store, and apply information about others.

The department is multidisciplinary, with research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence.

• Lead recruitment efforts, manage scheduling of testing sessions, and conduct or supervise in‑person subject interviews to ensure adherence to research protocols.
• Supervise and train junior‑level staff.
• Monitor the progression of research projects.
• Maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation.
• Coordinate collaborative relationships and maintain communications with testing participants to address questions and ensure a positive experience.

• Oversee laboratory management, including training of personnel in various techniques and analysis.
• Conduct large‑scale surveys, research projects, and complex experiments.
• Ensure safety policies and procedures are observed and maintain safety records.
• Oversee the set‑up and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Assist in preparation of completed research reports or analyses for each project phase.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as necessary; oversee the disposal of hazardous waste.
• Maintain fiscal accountability of the program, including grant proposal development, and approve all expenditures for the laboratory.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

• Master's degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.

• 2 years related research experience.

• 4 years related research experience.

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
