Associate Research Professor of Medical & Molecular Genetics

Position Summary:

The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the associate scientist level. This is a scientist track non-tenure position. The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, quantitative genetics, molecular biology and genomics, or another related research area, and more than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training. Candidates must have expertise in large datasets, developing analysis pipelines, omics analyses, programming and using command line tools, machine learning approaches, and data visualization tools.

Expertise in software engineering and a solid foundation in biological research are strongly preferred. Candidates will be responsible for designing, executing and supervising bioinformatics projects for the laboratory. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. Candidates must be able to mentor graduate students and technicians and collaborate with laboratory personnel who lack bioinformatics skills. It is highly desirable for holders of this position to develop research projects with strong potential for long‑term NIH funding and to demonstrate collaborative ability with others.

Basic Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in a neuroscience‑related discipline and more than 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship training. The candidate must have expertise in conducting research in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, other aging‑associated neurodegenerative diseases, and normal brain aging. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
