Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across all listed systems.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine the best course of action using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and satisfy expectations.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time effectively to meet work‑related activities.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed.
  • Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the TRAIT application on a company‑issued iOS device.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Operate independently, managing your own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most standard repair times.
  • Source parts from approved local and national vendors when necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Possess and supply hand tools required for job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical before employment; a valid DOT medical card may be accepted if it has more than four months remaining.
  • Be at least 21 years old to meet interstate operating authority regulations.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
