Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
This position maintains the University’s building systems, equipment, and structures.
Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building interior finishes, including painting, building envelope systems, furniture,fixtures and equipment. Projects range in scope and complexity from simple furniturerepairs to completing entire interior renovations.

- Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of:
- Building interior finishes; wall and ceiling systems; drywall, plaster and paint; locks and door systems; andall flooring types
- Building envelope systems; roof, drains and gutter systems, masonry, metal, wood, and plastic exterior as wellas hard and soft joint systems; exterior concrete and railing systems; building penetrationsincluding exterior window/door systems and locks
- Building furniture systems and moveable equipment; furniture, fixtures and equipment in residence halls, academic, administrative andathletic buildings
- Assist plumbers, electricians, and HVAC staff on minor installation, maintenance,troubleshooting and repairs
- Provide technical expertise as it relates to carpentry and painting
- Work with the Supervisor of Building Trades in researching parts, projects, inventory and equipment
- High school/GED required; apprenticeship preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in painting, building interior, building envelope, furniture,fixtures and equipment construction preferred
- Participate in 24/7 on-call roster for service to faculty, staff, and students
- Participate in the snow removal on-call roster
- Participate in department safety training
- Valid driver’s license
- Physical demands:
Occasionally requires ability to lift up to 100 lbs.;
Frequentlyrequires twisting, turning, repetitive hand/wrist motion and forearm rotation, bending,stooping, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders,balancing and reaching above shoulder and down to floor and lifting/carrying up to50 lbs.;
Constantly requires standing, walking, traveling from building to buildingmultiple times a day and lifting/carrying up to 25lbs.
