Department InformationCapital Planning and Facilities(CPF) works to ensure that Indiana University (IU) campuses arebeautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across theentire university. A unit within CPF, Facility Operations maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University Bloomington.
As a unit of Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all with the goal of creating abeautiful, well-functioning campus.
- Installs pathways and spaces for installation of low voltagewiring. Installs, terminates, and tests wires and cables, bothcopper and fiber-optic. Installs, tests, and troubleshoots cablingsystems. Installs communications and sound distribution systems.
Installs prefabricated systems, such as controllers, dimmingsystems, life/safety systems, and energy management systems. - Performs testing, analysis, and repair of video, voice, anddata systems.
- Utilizes tools and equipment in a safe manner as well asfollowing all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Reviews and makes applicable recommendations to drawings,blueprints, and construction specifications.
- Participates in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as needed.
- Orders replacement parts and components as needed.
- Provides documentation as required for field work and assignments.
- Assists in providing work estimates on assigned projects.
- Stays available for emergency callouts and overtime as required.
- Drives vehicle if needed.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCERequired
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) and 5years of verifiable journey-level experience.
OR - Associate's degree 2 years of verifiable journey level experience.

- Possesses a valid driver s license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.

This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well asfar away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self;
discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
