Grounds​/Maintenance Worker, Pfau Golf Course

• Mows, trims and edges grass and turf of specialized areas usingriding mower, push mower, weed whip and edger. Mulches, weeds,removes thatch, aerates, and trims and edges around flower beds,walks, pathways and walls.
• Oversees irrigation systems, including regular inspections,adjustments, and repairs to ensure proper watering schedules and optimal turf and/or grass health.
• Applies seed, fertilizer and chemicals.
• Performs snow and ice removal with hand tools and power equipment .
• Installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation equipment,including sprinklers, valves, controllers, and pipes. Performs routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Transports parts, tools, equipment, and materials.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned,including general building maintenance duties. Drives University vehicles as needed. Works any shift as needed. 24-hour a day emergency response as needed. Assists with snow removal activities as necessary.
• May wash vehicles, checks and tops off fluid levels, and delivers vehicles for maintenance or servicing.

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

• 2 years of experience with landscape or grounds related work.
  OR
• 2 years of experience with light general maintenance.

• Possesses a valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for longdurations. It requires effective communication, the ability tooperate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one'sself in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/orgases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and movein tight spaces to perform and complete inspections.

Available to work during inclement weather (i.e. snow and ice) whenweather emergencies dictate that the department is needed to takecare of the campus.
