FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA)
Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) works to ensure that IU campuses are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the entire university. A unit within CPF, Facility Operations maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington. As a unit of Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all with the goal of creating a beautiful, well-functioning campus.
Responsibilities- Operate various types of trucks (dump, flatbed, pickup, packer, box) to deliver materials (supplies, furnishings, equipment, tools, ordered parts, sand, stone, soil, asphalt, plant material, trees, shrubs, solid waste, recycled materials, etc.) to job site.
- Use procurement card, purchase orders and verbal descriptions to locate and obtain required materials, parts, tools, equipment, etc. Manually load and unload vehicle. Use rollers, block and tackle, hand trucks, hydraulic lifts, Johnson bars and other equipment to lift and move large or heavy items. Tow trailer to deliver auxiliary equipment to job site.
- Operate truck with mounted snow blade and sand spreader to clear streets, drives, and parking lots. Inspect vehicle for proper operating condition. Check fluid levels, tire pressures, and lights. Maintain vehicle records and logs.
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks as needed.
This role requires stationary positioning for long periods of time. It also requires a CDL-B or chauffeur’s level driver's license issued by the State of Indiana and the ability to be insured by Indiana University. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation.

$23.29 per hour

- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) with 1 year of relevant experience. OR
- General knowledge at the high school level with 2 years of relevant work experience, including 1 year of driving experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
- CDL license and passing Department Of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). exam upon date of hire.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Knowledge of various truck types and their use and maintenance.
- Ability to operate dump truck, flatbed truck, and pickup truck.
- Ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you and the vehicle.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and basic grounds keeping tools and equipment.
- Ability to use a computer.
