Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is looking for a Commercial Driver to operate a tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver non‑hazardous material (biosolids) using roll‑off/belt trailers. The driver may be required to load and/or unload the truck. A Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required; a Hazmat endorsement is not. Roll‑off experience is a plus and training will be provided. Belt trailer and walking‑floor experience are also a plus.

This position is safety‑sensitive and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee is responsible for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others. Our trucks are equipped with video and GPS monitoring systems to ensure safety for the driver, the company, and the public. The operation runs 7 days per week with multiple shifts available.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a company advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public.
  • Complete ELD entries.
  • Conduct daily inspections (pre‑ and post‑trip) and perform preventative maintenance on the truck/equipment.
  • Comply with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations, procedures, and rules.
  • Always operate tractor/trailer in a safe manner.
  • Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery of material to destination.
  • Maintain a clean tractor/trailer. Clean off material as needed. Do not travel on the roadway with the product on equipment.
  • Transport materials to various destinations, placing special focus on safety, traffic rules, and regulations.
  • Accurately fill out paperwork, including daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports, and customer work order tickets.
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. safety and life‑critical rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR.
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. or directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Operations Manager and Safety Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Current Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement (Valid).
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen.
  • Must pass pre‑employment background check.
  • Must have clean driving record.
  • Ability to haul 40’ to 53’ trailers.
  • Experience with Roll Off, Belt, & Walking Floor trailers (Highly Preferred).
  • Ability to read and understand a map/GPS.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to drive truck with manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred.
  • Waste industry experience, a plus.
  • Ability to back up tractor‑trailer or equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work overtime hours, and/or weekend.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to operate tractor/trailer or equipment in a safe manner.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
