Position: Driver - CDL (B)

Position Summary

A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, the Driver – CDL (B) must ensure the vehicle is in compliance with Company safety standards before operation, adhere to all Company, state, and federal regulations while operating, and complete daily vehicle condition reports ("VCRs") to facilitate timely repair of any vehicle defects.

Principal

Responsibilities
  • Perform a comprehensive pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle according to Company policy, ensuring tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning properly, and report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site, read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by dispatcher or supervisor.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional customer route service.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them per departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
  • Clean the area around accidental waste spills in accordance with all safety standards and policies.
  • Monitor vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body, as appropriate, on each disposal trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports.
  • Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure all customers are serviced efficiently and timely.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit good customer service skills, professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation with customers and co‑workers, grounded in honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Demonstrate good time‑management skills to complete duties efficiently and safely.
  • Show follow‑through ability, adhere to the work schedule, and address challenges as they arise.
  • Adhere to Company policies and rules, promoting safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.
  • Maintain pride in work and strive to achieve all goals.
Minimum Requirements
  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
