We are seeking an Assistant Construction Manager for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Bloomington, MN. This role will support the Construction and Project Management team in the successful execution of complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects across a diverse range of industries including aviation, commercial, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven construction professional to gain hands‑on experience managing all aspects of project delivery including safety, quality, schedule, cost, and client relations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the day‑to‑day management of construction projects, supporting Project Managers, Site Managers, and EPC leadership
- Promote and enforce safety programs, ensuring compliance across all project stakeholders
- Support client relationships and serve as a point of contact for project‑related communication
- Assist in project planning efforts, including development of execution, safety, quality, staffing, and procurement plans
- Coordinate permitting, subcontractor pre‑qualification, and bid processes
- Prepare and support Requests for Proposal (RFPs), scope development, and contract documentation
- Assist with contract administration including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting documentation
- Support project controls including cost tracking, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting
- Participate in risk assessments and project reviews in collaboration with internal teams
- Assist with procurement activities, materials management, and inventory control
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements
- Support invoicing processes for clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Maintain organized project documentation and filing systems
- Assist with project audits, reporting, and closeout documentation including turnover and warranty processes
- Support workforce planning, onboarding, and craft labor coordination
- Analyze labor productivity, crew rates, and cost metrics to support project performance
- Assist in managing construction equipment and ensuring proper utilization
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 3+ years of construction experience, preferably on project sites or EPC projects
- Experience across industries such as commercial, energy, manufacturing, transportation, or water is a plus
- Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
- Familiarity with project management and document control software preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
