Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.
This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).
ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE NURSING PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE
The nursing program at Normandale Community College is seeking part-time faculty members to join the nursing faculty. The candidates hired for the positions will join a dynamic and experienced team of academic nurses and provide instruction in the classroom, skills lab, and/or clinical settings. We champion the faculty development of and welcome applications from clinically experienced nurses new to the academic setting.
Our program was recently revised from the MANE curriculum to a four-semester associate’s program emphasizing our program philosophy. Our program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirement
- Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or
- Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.
- Bachelor’s degree without a graduate degree may be considered for clinical teaching
Occupational Experience Requirement
- Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
- Four years is required for clinical AD
- As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
- Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
- Other Requirement: Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments
- Experience teaching family/community, geriatrics, or medical–surgical nursing
- Recent clinical practice experience
- Past involvement with curriculum development in the academic, community, or clinical areas
- Experience in learner assessment and evaluation
- Evidence of professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Ability to work with a diverse group of learners and diverse patient populations
- Experience designing and teaching curricula responsive to the needs of historically underrepresented and/or marginalized learners
- Experience using multi-modal approaches and learner-centered pedagogy to meet the needs of first generation, immigrant, and low-income learners
