Job SummaryA paraprofessional-Teaching Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in helping students learn and/or stay safe.
SalaryHourly rate: $17.68 - $27.40 per hour - Aide Classified Salary Schedule, dependent upon experience.
Education and ExperienceData collection skills, ability to follow direction, flexible, positive, works well with kids and a team, professional.
Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in teaching students how to become independent and responsible at school
- Assist with specialized needs that may include behavior, learning, self‑help skills and/or communication.
- Assure that students learn at their own level and have their specialized needs met
- Collect or gather data
- Run small learning groups
- Prepare or set up activities and materials for the next rotation, period or day, help students with self‑care tasks
- Monitor students during class, transitions, lunch or breaks
- Provide instructional support individually or in small groups
- Provide one‑on‑one instruction
- Meet with teachers
- Provide accommodations for students to have access to classroom instruction
- Other duties as assigned
Student or Students as assigned and needed by teacher.

Additional InformationSalary/pay rate is determined based on position classification and employee's qualifications and experience relevant to the job description requirements. Full pay range may be found on the appropriate salary schedule.
Language SkillsAbility to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to students, staff, parents and administrators.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. Occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. May occasionally push items of 75 lbs. or more. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentMost coaching time is spent indoors. Noise level is usually moderate to loud, a standard acceptable level for this environment.
