- High School diploma AND two years of college OR Associate's degree OR MN passing score on the Para Educator test.
- Effective behavior management and health support skills, able to maintain routine in a student's day.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for interactions with staff, students, and parents.
- Experience working in a center-based and inclusion setting.
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions, which may include toileting, catheters, lifting, medication administration, gastric tube feedings, health tasks to support student, pool, DAPE, ability to work outside.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.
- Assist in communication with staff, parents, and students.
- Assist teacher/nurse in collection and maintaining data.
- Implement intervention strategies developed by licensed staff.
- Implement behavior intervention plans.
- Implement health plans.
- Assist with crisis interventions and discipline.
- Have knowledge of effective sensory activities.
- Instruct individual students following programs designed by lead teacher.
- Assist with independent study.
- Reinforce lessons with small groups of students.
- Work outdoors with students and staff in a variety of weather conditions.

Compensation / Benefits- RAVE Clerical Association, Wage Group V - According to contractual agreement. (based on 2025-26 contract)
- Step 1 - $21.32/hour
- Step 2 - $22.62/hour
- Step 3 - $23.91/hour
- Employees in the paraprofessional classification receive a $1.00 per hour differential in addition to their hourly base rate.
