Position Summary
Students who read and add have the power to succeed, and we're on a mission to help each student build the skills to thrive. Join Reading Corps and Math Corps as a combined Reading & Math Tutor and spend your days at a local school improving students in both reading and math. You will be trained to deliver proven activities in both subjects and coach you every step of the way.
Each school day you will conduct pairs of students for 20 minutes of reading practice and groups of up to three for 20‑30 minutes of math practice, following a schedule to ensure consistent support.
- Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive in both reading and math.
- Lead reading tutoring sessions with pairs of students using proven literacy activities.
- Lead math tutoring sessions with small groups using proven numeracy activities.
- Follow a daily schedule to ensure all students receive consistent support.
- Track student progress in both subjects and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
- Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
- Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
- Share your experience with the community.
- Dependable and have a history of good attendance.
- Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (email, navigating online).
- Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- Able to successfully complete a background check.
Schedule:
Positions for the 2026‑27 school year, August
2026–June
2027. Full‑time: 35 hours per week (less during holidays or school release days). Part‑time: 25 or 15 hours per week. Ameri Corps members receive a stipend every two weeks. Compensation is $17.50 per hour served, plus additional perks.
Benefits:
