- Instructional planning, teaching, and learning in topics that include, but are not limited to: electrical, powertrains, hydraulics and general maintenance of heavy construction equipment and trucks in classroom and shop setting.
- Instructional facilitation.
- Assessment of student performance.
- Student retention and advising.
- Lab/climate management.
- Interpersonal relations, effective team member skills.
- Maintenance of professional skills and credentials.
- Work closely with program advisory committee to maintain and enhance curriculum and assess program outcomes.
- Participate in department meetings, coordination activities, curriculum development, and college-wide committees.
- Educational Requirement:
Diploma in a heavy equipment maintenance program or a diesel and heavy equipment technology program. - Occupational Experience Requirement:
Four full‑time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in heavy equipment maintenance or heavy equipment repair. - One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full‑time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
- Knowledge and experience of the maintenance procedures on Caterpillar, John Deere, and Komatsu construction equipment.
- Class A commercial driver's license.
- Currently holds, or is eligible to obtain, an American Red Cross Instructor certification.
- Heavy Equipment Operations experience beneficial.
- Demonstrate familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.
- Experience using instructional strategies to support diverse learners with a commitment to high‑quality, college‑level teaching and student learning.
- Demonstrate interest in supporting and participating in departmental activities beyond instructional responsibilities (e.g., recruiting, budget planning meetings, committee work).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and willing to work as part of a team.
