We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Dassel Cokato. This full-time position is ideal for an educator who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies that promote academic and social growth.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to integrate students with special needs into the mainstream classroom.
- Assess and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to ensure student success.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEP documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and progress.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independence.
- Stay current on best practices and legal requirements related to special education.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding special education policies and practices.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, support staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid state teaching license in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
