As an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) in the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division, you will perform tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites near Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards while maintaining safety and professionalism.
These are local sites – candidates should reside within 50 miles of the Minneapolis, Minnesota areas.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of Solar Utility and Sub‑Station equipment.
- Maintain documentation including, but not limited to, work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules.
- Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with the help of digital multi‑meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.
- Test and troubleshoot installed solar equipment and ensure proper working order.
- Have a strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per the PEARCE Renewables Employee Handbook and insurance requirements.
- 2+ years’ experience in Commercial/Industrial operations and maintenance on solar power plants is preferred.
- Preventative maintenance experience on Solar Utility equipment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical experience with troubleshooting and installation skills.
- Specific solar experience with Inverters, Tracker Systems, or Sub‑Station Equipment (TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, ATI, etc.) is preferred.
- Takes initiative to elevate issues at site.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into apprentices.
- High aptitude and strong work ethic.

- Must live within approximately 50 miles of the Minneapolis, Minnesota areas.
- Be exposed to ambient temperatures while working outdoors.
- Lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).
- Employment may require working on weekends and holidays, including an "on call" service availability via telephone/text message.
- Travel requirements up to 25% depending on support of the company.
$30.00–$42.00 hourly, DOE. Actual compensation depends on skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem or other applicable compensation. Base pay range: $30 USD – $42 USD.
