Product Development Specialist
Collaborate with innovative 3
Mers around the world to develop next‑generation products and technologies in the field of ceramic fiber materials.
- Assume technical leadership on NPI (New Product Introduction) and NTI (New Technology Introduction) initiatives.
- Formulate, process, and characterize materials for 3M Nextel Ceramic Fiber development.
- Interface with cross‑functional team members (marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, technical service, quality, regulatory, etc.) to ensure successful program delivery.
- Generate intellectual property positions, including invention submissions, patents, and 3M trade secrets. Lead technical interactions with corporate labs to identify new technologies, processes, and materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science (e.g., Ceramics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering) from an accredited institution.
- Six years of product development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Additional Qualifications that could help you succeed:
- Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Three years of product development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Experience with ceramic processing and analytical techniques such as sol‑gel processing, fiber‑forming techniques, high‑temperature processing, and chemical/mechanical properties testing.
- This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel may include up to 10% domestic.
- Relocation is authorized.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for an employment visa status (e.g., H‑1B).
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws. - U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub‑contracts impose restrictions on sharing technology and services with certain non‑U.S. persons. 3M must help assess candidates’ U.S. person status for compliance.
