We connect high-performing professionals with organizations that value people, performance, and growth—helping leaders find roles where they can make an impact and build meaningful careers.
About the OpportunityWe’re partnering with a well-established manufacturer with more than 50 years in business and a strong reputation for building high-end instruments used in surface analysis. These products support research and development efforts at leading manufacturers and universities, with applications across nanotechnology, biomedical, microelectronics, and materials research. This is an opportunity to join a business known for advanced technology, long-term stability, and meaningful work tied to cutting-edge innovation.
This Senior Electrical Engineer role offers the chance to step into a visible player-coach position within R&D. Reporting to a long-tenured VP of R&D, this person will help lead a team while remaining hands-on in the design and prototype of custom electronics for sophisticated imaging and scanning instruments. For the right engineer, this is a compelling opportunity to blend technical depth, leadership, and product development impact in an environment where the work matters.
You’ll Do
Lead and support a team of 6–7 within the R&D and design group while staying directly involved in engineering work. This is a hands-on role centered on the design and prototype of custom electronics for advanced instruments. You’ll work closely with other engineering groups to support product development and help move complex designs forward. The position requires a strong balance of leadership and execution, with day-to-day involvement in mixed signal control electronics, embedded systems, firmware, and microcontroller-related work.
Some travel is part of the role, including international travel.
You’re an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys staying close to the work while also helping guide a team. You bring the mindset of a player coach, someone who can lead, support, and collaborate without stepping away from the technical details. You’re comfortable working in a product development environment where precision matters and where engineering teams come together to solve complex challenges.
This role is a strong fit for someone who values innovation, enjoys hands-on design work, and wants to contribute to products used by some of the world’s leading manufacturers and universities.
- At least 10 years of experience as an electrical engineer
- Experience designing mixed signal control electronics for hardware
- Background in mixed signal, embedded systems, firmware, and microcontrollers
- Experience designing capital equipment, preferably in the scientific, semiconductor, or medical industry
- Ability and willingness to work in a player-coach capacity
- Willingness to travel, including some international travel
This role plays an important part in supporting the continued development of highly specialized instruments used in advanced research and development environments. It offers the chance to influence both the work of a small engineering team and the design of products serving innovative industries around the world.
