Job Title and Location
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced FPGA Engineer position that just opened in Bloomington, MN
. In this role, you will be responsible for the definition, design, verification, simulation, and documentation of FPGA and ASIC developments supporting mission‑critical aerospace and defense systems. You will contribute to architecture development, device design, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, test planning, and performance verification throughout the FPGA development lifecycle. You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
Location: Bloomington, MN Position: Advanced FPGA Engineer Contract: 12–24 Months or Longer Pay: $81.92/hour Shift: 1st Shift
Responsibilities- Define, design, verify, and document FPGA and ASIC solutions
- Develop system architectures and detailed design approaches
- Define module interfaces and all aspects of device design and simulation
- Perform synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power optimization activities
- Create and execute simulation and test plans to validate functionality and performance
- Analyze and verify test results and recommend design improvements
- Support technical engineering product development using established standards, processes, and tools
- Research customer requirements, specifications, and technical data to determine design feasibility
- Select components and equipment based on reliability and performance requirements
- Participate in continuous improvement of FPGA engineering processes
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and project stakeholders
- Support major aerospace and defense development programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM discipline plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Experience with FPGA and/or ASIC design, development, verification, and documentation
- Experience with architecture definition, simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power utilization
- Ability to develop test plans, simulation plans, and performance verification procedures
- Experience selecting components and equipment based on technical specifications and reliability requirements
- Strong understanding of FPGA development lifecycle processes and engineering standards
- Proficiency with FPGA/ASIC design and simulation tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience leading FPGA development efforts and mentoring junior engineers
- Ability to analyze customer specifications and determine design feasibility
- Experience reviewing vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced engineering environment
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
- Flexible and collaborative engineering environment supporting advanced defense technologies
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work performed
