Job Summary
Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E.
Location:
Bloomington, MN (tri-state region KY-OH-IN)
To investigate events, systems, devices and/or failures and provide expert opinions; to provide ethical and scientific guidance on complex engineering assignments; to contribute to overall profitability through expert consulting services.
Responsibilities- Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced colleagues on complex engineering assignments.
- Survey property, casualty and liability losses at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.
- Conduct investigations to determine root causes of events and failures.
- Work closely with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports, drawings, and outline causes and origins of losses and damages.
- Develop plans, reports, and drawings to meet client needs and document failure analysis and causation.
- Provide expert testimony in court and in depositions.
- Determine applicable engineering practices for scope of work, project specifics, timelines, and cost estimates.
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis.
- Collaborate with sales and operations managers, architects, developers, insurance adjusters, claims managers and attorneys to develop demand for professional services.
- Collaborate with EFI’s national team of forensic experts to share experiences and assist on projects.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in resident state. Multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record preferred.
- Experience determining causes of structural failure, storm and roof damage assessments, building envelope investigations, and evaluating structural collapses.
- Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
