Retail Banking Sales & Service

Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects by identifying financial needs and providing tailored advice and guidance. Works collaboratively within the branch and through other BMO partners to achieve desired customer experiences and business objectives. Leads proactive engagement with existing customers and prospects, conducting needs‑based assessments to grow loyalty and uncover immediate and future opportunities. Supports transaction needs, recommends digital and self‑serve options, and assists with lending and investment solutions.

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and provide tailored financial solutions, including everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing and small‑business solutions.
• Engage customers to complete the needs assessment, identify preferred banking channels and recommend solutions that meet both sales and service needs.
• Assist with customer transactions and ensure accurate data entry and lending application recommendations in compliance with legal, regulatory and bank policies.
• Apply the risk management framework to protect the bank’s assets and maintain portfolio quality in accordance with lending guidelines.
• Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in line with sound credit granting principles.
• Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations to provide strategic advice.
• Identify and report suspicious patterns of activity related to money laundering.
• Collaborate with branch and market teams, contributing to continuous improvement of the customer experience.
• Handle escalations, analyze issues, and determine next steps while following risk and compliance processes.

• Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs, retail investments, and lending products.
• Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Social media, tablet, smartphone, and online tool proficiency.
• Canada Only – Registration to sell investment products completed as appropriate for the jurisdiction.
• U.S. Only – Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry; compliance with Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act.

• Appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
• Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for the jurisdiction, including safeguarding customer assets and privacy.

Salary range: $41,714.00 – $69,000.00 (Salaried). Compensation may include commission, performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks. The package covers health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
