To excel in this position at Minnesota Urology, a strong foundation in healthcare billing and patient account management is essential. Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate's degree or higher preferred. At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in healthcare settings, specifically with patient accounts and revenue cycle functions, is crucial for success. Familiarity with third-party payors, as well as knowledge of ICD-10/CPT codes and prior authorization processes, will greatly benefit your effectiveness in this role.

Additionally, experience with claims follow-up and patient refunds is vital for ensuring timely reimbursement. Proficiency in using Athena EMR or similar systems will enhance your ability to navigate patient accounts and collaborate with clinical staff efficiently. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills will also be fundamental in maintaining a patient-centered approach within the team.

• Answer patient calls about account balances and financial assistance options
• Assist with payment plans
• Process refunds
• Investigate denied claims and monitor aging accounts
• Collaborate with clinical staff and third-party payers
• Reconcile payments and maintain precise account records

• High School Diploma / GED required;
  Associate's or higher preferred
• 2-3+ years of healthcare experience including patient account management, billing, or revenue cycle functions
• Experience with third-party payors, ICD-10/CPT codes, prior authorizations, claims follow-up, and patient refunds
• Knowledge of Athena EMR or similar systems preferred
