Job Description WOMEN'S SHELTER INC. JOB DESCRIPTION Food and Donation Specialist

Performs functions related to donations and food services. Plans, organizes and coordinates all functions related to shopping for resident needs (groceries, toiletries, etc.), donation pickups, inventory and storage. This includes ensuring food stocks are full, and donations are picked up, sorted and put in storage in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- 1. Participates in local, state, and federal food programs whenever possible.
- 2. Maintains records necessary for participation in food programs.
- 3. Is responsible for the purchasing, preparing and storage of groceries, culturally appropriate foods, and medically mandated foods, ensuring adequate supply of food products in all buildings.
- 4. Complies with all health and safety regulations.
- 5. Perform related duties as assigned.
- 1. Properly store all food donations at the main shelter in a timely manner.
- 1. Creates donation pick up schedule and arranges for pick up.
- 2. Follows the established storage method of donations maintaining order.
- 3. Give completed donation pick up forms to the Administrative Assistant for receipt, acknowledgment, and computer entry.
- 1. May be required to work additional hours during periods of increased organizational activity or operational demand
- 2. Serv Safe Certification preferred; certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire if not already certified
- 3. May be required to use personal vehicle for work related purposes.
- 1. Ability to work with residents to provide satisfying and nutritious food within Women's Shelter’s budget.
- 2. An understanding of the unique problems encountered by survivors of domestic violence.
- 3. Ability to respond to individuals in crisis with appropriate interpersonal communication skills.
- 4. Ability to represent Women's Shelter to the public in a positive manner.
- 5. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- 6. Ability to work with people of diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
- 7. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
- 8. Must maintain a positive attitude toward residents, coworkers, the public, and administration.
- 9. Good organizational skil
