This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Office of Human Resources Management, Talent Management Directorate, CBP Hiring Center located in either Bloomington, MN or Minneapolis, MN. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
As the Director, you will have delegated authority and oversight of the CBP Hiring Center, which provides comprehensive classification, staffing, and coordination of pre-employment services to all program offices within CBP. This position starts at a salary of $ (GS-, Step

In this position, the Director manages a group of first and second-line Supervisory Human Resources Specialists and oversees the routine day-to-day operations of the Division in the areas of frontline and mission support personnel.
Typical work assignments include:
- Managing a group of first and second-line Supervisory Human Resources Specialists and overseeing the routine day-to-day operations of the Division in the areas of front-line and mission support personnel
- Identifying and solving particularly complex and sensitive problems and issues arising in the areas of customer relationships including those involving apparently conflicting regulations and/or laws
- Resolving differences between line managers and staff elements when proposing alternative structures and transitional plans to achieve an efficient and effective organizational structure.
- Developing a strong working relationship with key CBP staff in order to develop solutions to difficult HR issues and problems.

Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Creating and delivering briefings and strategic reports to senior leadership that shape organizational priorities, resources decisions and talent management strategies
- Leading process redesign and improvement initiatives to strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness across HR operations
- Directing projects and HR modernization, workforce planning, and recruitment initiatives that enhance an organization’s talent management capabilities and operational efficiency
- Providing strategic counsel to senior leadership on workforce risks, opportunities, and HR policy implications to advance mission-ready staffing objectives
