Claims Intern - Property​/Casuatly Claims

Claims at North Star Mutual are dynamic. In Claims we handle auto crashes, vehicle damage, personal liability, bodily injury, and property damage to buildings on residential, farm and commercial policies. Claims is involved from the first notice of a claim to conclusion of the file. Day-to-day activities include a high degree of communication and customer service. Claim service is the product we provide to our customers.

North Star Mutual Insurance Company is looking for applicants for our fall 2026 Claims internship. Students will have the opportunity to analyze, review and route new claims files, accept payment requests, interpret policy language and evaluate coverage of insurance policies, and request status updates when appropriate. Mastering top notch customer service skills through written and oral communication with stakeholders, participating in department meetings and opportunities for field adjuster ride-alongs are key functions of this well-balanced internship experience.

Other duties/projects may be assigned.

Individuals that have strong analytical skills, the ability to learn a variety of computer programs, possess basic mathematical aptitude and are solid communicators are encouraged to apply. Interns may be exposed to confidential Company information and must be able to maintain that throughout and following their experience at North Star.

The pursuit of an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture or a related field is preferred for this internship. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the North Star Mutual School of Business at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
