Overview
Technical Support Rep II (Mechanical/Electrical + Writing) – The Toro Company. We are a leading worldwide provider of innovative solutions for the outdoor environment, offering products in turf and landscape maintenance, snow and ice management, underground utility construction, rental and specialty construction, irrigation, and outdoor lighting. The role is based at the Bloomington, MN International Corporate Headquarters.
Location & Work ArrangementFull‑time, in‑office. The role requires five days on site during training, followed by three days on campus and optional two days remote. Remote work is not available at this time.
What Will You Do?Support industry‑leading products through technical research, quick problem resolution, and proactive communication with distributors, dealers, mass merchants, and end customers.
- Product Issue Support (55%) – Respond to technical and quality inquiries across phone, email, chat, and case management systems, collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions, leverage emerging technologies (AR/VR, M2M, diagnostics), and analyze data to identify trends.
- Technical Writing (25%) – Create and maintain technical publications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accessibility; support video development and documentation reviews.
- Technical Training Support (5%) – Provide subject‑matter input for training development, conduct hands‑on training events, and support inter‑departmental programs.
- Customer Relations (10%) – Build relationships with channel personnel, conduct field support visits, adjudicate warranty requests, and advocate for customer needs.
- Other – Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean projects.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three or more years of technical/customer‑facing experience.
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, or related technical fields (e.g., hydraulics, diesel/gasoline engines, hybrid technology).
- Strong technical writing and communication skills; familiarity with XML/DITA preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to read technical specifications and schematics.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of shop or dealer channel environments is a plus.
