Linehaul Operations Assistant Manager

Position SummaryThe Linehaul Operations Assistant Manager supports the Linehaul Manager in overseeing the day-to-day and strategic aspects of linehaul operations. This role is responsible for optimizing transportation efficiency, reducing costs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high service levels through effective scheduling, planning, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Efficiency: Assist in planning and optimizing linehaul routes, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective operations.
- Cost Management: Identify operational inefficiencies and support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or performance.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, fuel consumption, and vehicle utilization to drive improvements.
- Team Supervision & Support: Provide daily direction and support to drivers and operational staff; act as a point of escalation and leadership in the Linehaul Manager’s absence.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics to identify trends, forecast needs, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead or support process improvement projects aimed at enhancing productivity and service quality.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with drivers, dispatchers, third-party carriers, and internal departments to ensure operational alignment.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively address operational challenges and collaborate with the Linehaul Manager to implement effective solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all transportation laws and safety standards, including DOT, FMCSA, and company-specific policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in linehaul, transportation, or logistics operations, with some leadership or supervisory exposure preferred.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage frontline employees.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex data and translate it into operational improvements.
- Communication: Clear, professional communication with internal teams and external partners.
- Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and solution-oriented when handling day-to-day operational challenges.

Skills:
Capable of managing multiple priorities and maintaining structure in a dynamic environment. - Transportation Regulation Knowledge: Solid understanding of transportation compliance requirements and industry best practices.
