  • Curate a business portfolio in accordance with Underwriting Guidelines and prescribed pricing tools, potentially contributing to governance and guideline definition.
  • Undertake division‑level projects or initiatives outside your direct area of expertise to broaden organizational understanding.
  • Manage a portion of the division's budget, including staffing and travel & entertainment expenses.
  • Develop working‑level knowledge of capacity and build relationships with capacity providers.
  • Collaborate with the Division President to expand business into other inland marine offerings, such as contractors equipment, inland marine, and truck cargo.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for your business area, providing guidance to peers, leadership, and team members.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk characteristics, including nuanced risks, limits, and pricing strategies.
  • Achieve annual new and renewal business goals, including premium income targets, quote numbers, hit ratios, and retentions, ensuring the team meets these objectives.
  • Foster and develop new relationships with key producers to drive business growth.

Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, chemistry, risk management, finance, business, marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant technical and inland marine underwriting experience.
  • In-depth understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk assessment.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and build broker and client relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex risks with sound judgment.
  • Highly self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% or more as required for client meetings, conferences, or industry events.
