Position: PDL CNC Prototype Machinist - The Toro Company

Overview

The PDL CNC Prototype Machinist at The Toro Company builds prototype parts, temporary dies, models, and patterns using lathes, milling machines, CNC machines, and 3D printers.

Day Shift: Monday–Friday, flexible start times. Starting pay: $32.52–$43.72 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Determine correct processes, machining sequences, and tooling requirements.
  • Program, edit, and adjust CNC equipment, including offset adjustments.
  • Visualize, design, and produce work holding and special tools required during machining using current CAD and CAM software systems.
  • Operate auxiliary equipment as needed.
  • Assist in the layout and review of prints and parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of associated equipment.
  • Produce parts to meet print and process specifications.
  • Set up machines and inspect produced parts.
  • Follow safety rules, produce quality workmanship, and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Complete all required paperwork and record keeping.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of proven machining experience.
  • Two or more years of proven CNC programming experience.
  • Minimum 48 months of combined machining and CNC programming experience.
  • Core skills training in shop math, measuring tools, blueprint reading, and GDT or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience on engine lathes, standard milling machines, and grinders.
  • Relevant training in CNC Programming or equivalent experience.
  • Capability to use advanced mathematics, geometry, tables, and handbook formulas.
  • Knowledge of inspection instruments for inspecting own parts.
  • Trained in tool and die, jig and fixture, etc. is helpful.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
  • High concentration required for programming and machine set up.
  • Work involves exposure to noise and potential hazards such as cuts, bruises, dermatitis, and grinding wheel explosions.
