Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.

Responsibilities

Shift: This is a 12 hour night shift from 6:00pm-6:00am working every other weekend at the Gaylord facility.

Position summary:

This position is responsible for operating the processing system, CIP system, giving work direction to the other processors and assisting the shift supervisor in managing the processing department. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to food safety & quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assumes full operating responsibility for the UHT processing system, CIP system and records all the time, temperature, pressure and flow rates as required by the company. Detects and reports or acts upon any system abnormalities to reduce the risk of and damage of the system or product.
  • Understand how an aseptic system operates and how sanitation, bacteria control and sterilization are related to it in the process as well as the work area to achieve the high quality standards set by the company.
  • Coordinates with the packaging lead the status of the system to allow the timely hook‑up and start‑up of the production lines.
  • Directs the processing personnel in all sanitation, CIP receiving and transferring of eggs, and GMP activities.
  • Mixes citric acid using procedures set by the company to meet QA standards.
  • Prepares written reports and maintains assigned logs, records and other documentation required by the company and USDA.
  • Coordinates with all departments to make sure all mixing activities start on time, proper formulations and procedures are followed and the oldest egg is processed first to ensure all customer and company standards are met.
  • Trains all processing personnel on all areas of processing and helps wherever needed to ensure the systems operate at peak performance and downtime during clean‑up and resterilization is minimized.
  • Monitors the central sanitizing systems in the chemical rooms, ensuring all drums contain chemical and operate correctly to meet the correct PPM for each chemical set by the company.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
  • Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures product quality. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, quality or personnel safety.
  • Is responsible for food safety and food quality of MFI products.
  • Is accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, adhering to all safety policies and procedures and incorporating safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Follows quality work practices, adheres to GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures product quality. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • May fill in for the Area Supervisor as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and experience required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
