Job Summary
The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating computer programmable/controlled brake press machines. This position requires the ability to plan and layout bending sequences by referring to drawings, blueprints, or specifications. The operator will bend a variety of products or assemblies, ranging from small and light to average weight, following standard procedures. Assistance may be required for large or heavy sheet metal blanks.
The role involves setting up various types of metal for forming operations, ensuring that all parts are bent to close tolerances. The operator will align, fit, and adjust parts to meet the operational requirements of the unit, troubleshoot and rework pieces that fail tests, and assist Engineering personnel in modification, parts substitution, and repair. Minor maintenance procedures may also be performed.
The operator is responsible for coordinating orders on carts by ship date and maintaining a strong focus on quality control. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
- Setup and operate computer programmable/controlled brake press machines.
- Plan and layout bending sequences by referring to drawings, blueprints, or specifications.
- Bend a variety of products or assemblies of small, light to average weight following standard procedures.
- Request assistance for large or heavy sheet metal blanks as needed.
- Perform setup of various types of metal in forming operations, ensuring parts meet close tolerances.

- Experience in operating and setting up brake press machines, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience with troubleshooting and reworking metal pieces that fail tests.
- Ability to work with a variety of metal types and adjust setups for different materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training in brake press operation or a related field is preferred.
- Certification or additional training in metal fabrication or machine operation.
- Previous experience in a commercial door manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
