Manufacturing Engineer, CNC Machinist

Our client is an established precision manufacturing organization with a long-standing reputation for producing complex, high-quality tooling for customers across a variety of industries. Due to continued growth and increased demand, they are seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building complex tooling from the ground up, solving challenging machining problems, and working in a clean, well-equipped toolroom where craftsmanship and quality are valued.
Position OverviewThe Tool Maker will be responsible for building, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, fixtures, gauges, and special equipment used in manufacturing operations. This individual will work from engineering drawings and CAD models to produce extremely close-tolerance components while collaborating with engineering and production teams to support new product launches and ongoing manufacturing improvements.
Responsibilities- Build, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair precision tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges.
- Machine complex components using manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, jig grinders, and other precision equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and tight-tolerance specifications.
- Fit, finish, and assemble tooling while ensuring dimensional accuracy and functionality.
- Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to support new tooling designs and process improvements.
- Perform preventative maintenance and modifications to existing tooling.
- Maintain high standards for workmanship, organization, and safety.
- Journeyman Tool Maker certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of precision tool making experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong manual machining skills including mills, lathes, grinders, and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Experience building tooling from concept through final assembly.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and production teams.
- CNC programming or wire EDM experience is a plus but not required.
