Job Summary
The Communications Officer plays a key role in increasing the visibility and impact of Orbis Mongolia by delivering high-quality communications that showcase the organization's work and support its strategic objectives. The position develops engaging content, manages digital communication channels, supports advocacy and public awareness initiatives, and strengthens relationships with media, partners, donors, and other stakeholders. Working collaboratively with the Country Director, program staff, Global Communications & Marketing team, and external partners, the Communications Officer ensures that Orbis Mongolia's communications are timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization's global brand and messaging.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Communications Officer reports to the Country Director and collaborates closely with program staff, the Global Communications & Marketing team, consultants, implementing partners, media representatives, government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders to support Orbis Mongolia's communications, advocacy, and public engagement activities.
Essential Job Functions / Key Areas Of Responsibility
Communications & Brand Management
- Support the implementation of Orbis Mongolia's communications and advocacy plans in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Ensure all communications comply with Orbis's global brand guidelines and messaging standards.
- Identify opportunities to increase awareness of Orbis Mongolia's work among partners, donors, government agencies, healthcare professionals, and the public.
- Content Development & Storytelling
- Develop high quality communication materials, including success stories, case studies, newsletters, articles, reports, brochures, presentations, and other promotional materials.
- Gather information, interviews, photographs, and videos from program activities to document the impact of Orbis Mongolia's work.
- Proofread and edit communication materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
Digital Communications
- Manage and regularly update the Orbis Mongolia website and social media platforms with engaging and timely content.
- Develop digital content, including graphics, photographs, videos, and multimedia materials, working with external designers or consultants when required.
- Monitor digital communication performance and recommend improvements to increase audience engagement.
Media & Advocacy
- Support media engagement by preparing press releases, media briefings, speeches, and communication materials.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with media representatives and communication partners.
- Support advocacy and public awareness campaigns that promote eye health and the work of Orbis Mongolia.
Program & Event Communications
- Work closely with program staff to integrate communication activities into project implementation.
- Support communication requirements for donor-funded projects, including documentation of project activities and achievements.
- Coordinate communication activities for workshops, conferences, campaigns, donor visits, and other events.
- Represent Orbis Mongolia at meetings and events when required.
Knowledge Management
- Maintain an organized library of photographs, videos, publications, media coverage, and other communication resources.
- Contribute stories and updates to Orbis's global communication channels and internal communication platforms.
Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate with photographers, designers, printers, videographers, and other communication vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director.
