Position: Food Service Manager, Jefferson High School 210 days/year

Effective Date: ASAP

Hours: 7.5 hours per day
5 days per week
210 days per year (school year and summer)

Salary: Class V starting at $28.18 per hour

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience in food service department
  • 2 or more years supervisor experience
  • Serv Safe class within last 3 years or 30 days of start date
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of Food Service Management
  • Manager's certificate from MN Department of Health required (or within 30 days of start date)
  • SNA Certification level 4 within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in management of Food Service operation and staff including:
    • Supervision of kitchen operation
    • Scheduling workers
    • Record keeping, ordering and daily accounting monitoring compliance with USDA and ISD #271 guidelines
    • Resourceful, innovative approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated human relation and customer service skills in interacting with principals, staff, students, and public
  • Understands MN Food Code and USDA Guidelines for School Nutrition
  • Consistently works well with others displaying honesty, courtesy, compassion and helpfulness
  • Exhibits behavior which is not detrimental to the team, program or district at work and in the public
  • Respectfully follows directives of supervisors
  • Promotes participation through customer service delivery that is welcoming, encouraging and supportive
  • Consistently adheres to District rules and policies
  • Computer knowledge with the ability to use/understand the District's electronic food service and district software systems
  • Improving efficiency and actively participates in contributing towards program improvements
  • Demonstrated willingness to work with students and parent groups of various social, economic, and cultural diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of all equipment in the kitchen including kettles, steamers, mixers, ovens and choppers as assigned
  • Accurately and competently executes functions involving point of service, cash handling and computer programs
  • Maintains good communication to facilitate seamless service
  • Keep written documentation of food items used/temperatures
  • Knowledge of heavy cleaning and inventory of food service area and equipment including dish machine
  • Professional interest and support of the MN School Food Service Association - certification, classes, and workshops
  • Be flexible with start/end times
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Lifting and twisting to accommodate moving food pans and dish racks in the dish room area
  • Repetitive motion often required
  • Working in a noisy environment
  • Be visually alert to student conduct and potential hazards
