Position Summary:Mesabi Metallics is looking for an Electrician – Concentrator Operations / Maintenance who will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment within the Crusher and Concentrator operations. This role ensures that all electrical components operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Reporting to the Operations Shift Leader – Plant Operator/Maintainer, the Electrician – Plant (Concentrator/Pellet) will be responsible for the following:
- Adhere to all safe work policies, practices and procedures;
- Responsible for removal/install, assembly, maintenance and (if necessary, overhaul) of the plant electrical equipment and components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Perform preventative, predictive and routine electrical maintenance tasks ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical production equipment such as motors, AC/DC drives, DC generators, master control circuits and devices, process control devices, programmable logic controllers, elevators, cranes, lighting systems, electric shovels/drills, diesel/electric trucks and loaders, and power cables.
- Read and analyze all types of drawings, circuits and wire drawings while considering all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits.
- Participates in safety, health and environmental programs
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Recognize and document malfunctions, irregular operations and unsafe conditions in CMMS system;
- Clean up during and after job assignments to maintain a clean and safe work environment;
- Maintain positive attitude and work ethic while performing duties;
- Learn and understand the CMMS process involved in their daily function: work orders, parts ordering, looking up BOM and materials, etc.
Qualifications:
- At least 4 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of processing facility operations in the Mining industry including concentrator/Pellet operations, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staff utilization.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent work ethic.
- Able to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekend and holidays
- Completion of 2 year technical program.
- Electrician Journeyman’s license
- Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of components up to 50 lbs independently; team lifts for components over 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, in pits, and under raised equipment (with proper blocking and safety protocols).
- Extended standing, kneeling, crouching, and working overhead throughout the shift.
- Ability to work safely in outdoor conditions year-round including extreme cold (−30°F) and heat (100°F+).
