Position Description Summary
- Commonwealth University's Division of Theatre & Dance seeks applicants for temporary Theatre faculty positions (full-time one semester, part-time one semester or part-time academic year) as needs arise. The mission of the Division of Theatre and Dance is to provide a strong undergraduate education in the theory and practice of theatre and dance, to support the University's general education curriculum, and to enhance the cultural life of the campus community.

The division's goal is to develop students' working knowledge and application of historical and contemporary theories and practices in performance, design and technology, and dramatic and critical literature. We strive to develop artists who are imaginative critical thinkers and effective communicators producing art that celebrates humanity and challenges complacency. Duties
- Based on the specific needs of the department at the time of appointment, a successful applicant must be qualified to teach introductory and/or upper-level courses in theatre. Possible assignments include, but are not limited to, Theatre Appreciation;
Fundamentals of Acting;
Stage Combat;
Auditioning; other specialized topics in performance, design, or production areas. Candidates should be prepared for the possibility of teaching select classes online and/or in a hybrid manner. The location for these temporary positions varies with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred)
- Minimum Requirements:

Earned BA degree AND 15 semester hours of graduate credit in Theatre, or related field, from an accredited institution OR equivalent professional experience Academic specialization, prior teaching experience, and/or prior professional experience relevant to course assignment needs of the department at the time of the appointment Specific knowledge of theatre as required to effectively teach available course(s) The ability to work collegially within a liberal arts setting
