Position Description SummaryCommonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for temporary faculty positions (full-time one semester, part-time one semester or part-time academic year) as needs arise in the Department of Exceptionality Programs.
The Department of Exceptionality Programs houses Special Education programming at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs include special education teaching certification and supervisory certification, as well as endorsements and continuing education in this field of study.
DutiesBased on the specific needs of the department at the time of appointment, a successful applicant must be qualified to teach all of the courses in the category of application. These categories include:
- Introductory Special Education Courses
- Special Education Methods Courses
- Student Teaching Field-based Placement Supervision
- Graduate Research Courses
- Special Education Supervisory Courses

The location for these temporary positions varies with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred)- An advanced degree in Special Education or a related field
- Active engagement in the professional education community
- Prior teaching and/or professional experience relevant to the education of students with exceptionalities
