Overview
Administrative Nurse Supervisor responsible for coordinating and supervising nursing care delivery, ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory directives, and promoting a Magnet culture within Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Responsibilities- Coordinates and supervises delivery of nursing care and activities of assigned personnel.
- Ensures compliance with directives, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
- Supports and implements Nursing Department and Hospital goals and objectives.
- Coordinates patient flow, assesses appropriate staffing levels hospital-wide.
- Communicates Nursing and Organization's vision, goals, initiatives at unit/department level consistent with Magnet philosophy.
- Supports Managers as they supervise assigned personnel within Nursing.
- Assists with orientation, integration, and education of new employees.
- Facilitates patient placement with triage, prioritizing bed assignment in collaboration with Patient Placement and patient care staff.
- Participates in formulation of nursing policies and goals, as well as cross‑departmental policies.
- Communicates and interprets policies, procedures, regulations to patients, visitors, staff.
- Facilitates implementation of policies and procedures.
- Promotes and supports positive guest relations.
- Assigns nursing personnel for increased acuity, changes in patient acuity, and call‑offs based on census, unit acuity and volume.
- Supports staffing office regarding financial and quality outcomes.
- Supports Operations Managers as resource model for Clinical Coordinators, RN Career Enhancement Program nurses, Charge Nurses and other hospital personnel in advancing management skills.
- Serves as administrative representative communicating patient‑care activities to Administrator on call.
- Follows up on adverse, serious and sentinel events during evening, night and weekend shifts.
- Ensures proper documentation of adverse and sentinel events.
- Advocates that patient and family concerns are investigated and addressed appropriately.
- Evaluates quality of care, makes rounds, and ensures timely communication of significant operational issues.
- Serves as clinical resource assisting nursing personnel in assessing needs, procuring equipment, and resolving departmental problems.
- Demonstrates transformational leadership sustaining a Magnet culture.
- Encourages knowledge, innovation, evidence‑based practice and research in patient care.
- Collaborates with Operations Managers and Nursing Education Department to support staff needs.
- Addresses employee grievances per grievance procedures applicable to location.
- Performs work in a clinical environment and complies with organization policies and procedures.
- Enrollment in Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – required.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience – required.
- Basic Life Support Certification (Default Issuing Body).
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – of Pennsylvania.
- Clinical skills, communication, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, preceptor skills, teamwork.
Rotation schedule combining 8‑hour and 12‑hour shifts. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Shift differentials up to $7 for evening, night and weekend shifts.
