Introduction:
The Health & Safety Engineer will be responsible for supporting daily health and safety functions at a facility in Bloomsburg, PA. This role requires ensuring that health and safety activities reduce risk, eliminate incidents, and comply with external regulatory requirements and internal management guidelines.
- Develop and sustain systems to drive compliance, fatality prevention, and injury reduction.
- Act as a key health and safety liaison with location manufacturing, maintenance & engineering departments to assist in executing strategic and tactical health and safety plans.
- Analyze injury and incident data and assist line management in implementing focused injury reduction efforts. Provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction efforts.
- Participate in injury/incident investigations to identify root causes and provide recommendations for prevention.
- Lead the location's industrial hygiene program, including IH sampling plans, IH databases, employee exposure records, and hazardous material management.
- Manage PPE requirements and assist with health and safety audits.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Develop, review, and facilitate health and safety training.
- Assess, evaluate, and minimize risks collaboratively with employees using technical knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Assist in investigations of health and safety incidents, root cause analysis, and item closure tracking.
- Coordinate the development of systems to ensure accurate and timely metrics per corporate guidelines.
- Implement Human Performance systems and participate in continuing professional education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous Occupational Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and maintaining health and safety programs.
- Industrial Hygiene experience.
- Experience with Behavior Based Safety programs.
- Experience with Ergonomic assessments.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Experience with Power BI or Advanced Excel Analytics.
- Experience or exposure to OSHA standards and manufacturing/industrial environments.
