Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Construction Division 10 Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in preparing accurate project estimates, analyzing project plans, and supporting the bidding process for construction projects of varying complexity. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse commercial construction projects, utilizing advanced estimating tools and industry best practices to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
The estimator will collaborate closely with senior estimators, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver precise cost assessments that align with project specifications and company standards.
- Develop comprehensive construction estimates for Division 10 commercial projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam to prepare detailed bid proposals.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify scope of work and potential cost‑saving opportunities.
- Perform quantity take‑offs accurately from architectural drawings and technical documents.
- Engage in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Support contract negotiations by providing detailed cost analysis and risk assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new estimating technologies.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in a career path with core skills that overlap with Division 10 construction estimating (material takeoffs, resource allocation, vendor negotiations, variance analysis, risk assessment, material sourcing, etc.).
- Strong proficiency with Bluebeam, Heavy Bid, and other estimating software tools.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, cost control, pricing strategies, and contract management.
- Hands‑on construction site experience is highly desirable to understand on‑the‑ground realities impacting estimates.
- Background in construction management or related fields is preferred, but not a must.
- Familiarity with project management principles and construction site safety standards is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
