Fraud Analyst

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Overview:

The Fraud Analyst will review fraud alerts, checks, documents, and security footage to detect fraudulent activity. Additionally, the Fraud Analyst will create reports documenting any detected fraudulent activity and forward all major fraud cases to a Fraud Investigator for further review and in-depth investigation.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fraud investigations and maintain case records
  • Review mobile deposits and identify fraudulent checks
  • Investigate potential fraudulent transactions and take appropriate action to protect the credit union and its members
  • Suggest and create new methods and strategies to help combat fraud and assist our members
  • Review suspicious online account/loan applications and make appropriate recommendations
  • Review Verafin fraud alerts, analyze banking activity, identify fraudulent activity, and take appropriate action
  • Assist internal team members with fraud complaints or concerns
  • Respond to assigned Fraud Department emails and phone calls
  • Perform other duties to support the Fraud Department as necessary
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in banking, law enforcement, or investigations required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Adept at active listening and capable of analyzing information
