Our client, a Fortune 50 enterprise and global leader in retail, supply chain, and digital commerce
, is seeking a Senior Platform Engineering Director to provide strategy, vision, and execution leadership across its enterprise infrastructure and platform engineering organization.
This role leads the architecture, engineering, and operations of a highly scalable, resilient hybrid infrastructure
, supporting tens of thousands of physical and virtual servers across thousands of retail locations, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and a rapidly growing e-commerce ecosystem.
The ideal leader brings deep infrastructure expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven ability to scale teams, modernize platforms, and drive cloud and operational transformation at enterprise scale.
What You’ll Do- Define and execute the platform engineering and infrastructure vision and roadmap
, aligned with enterprise digital transformation and long-term growth objectives - Lead architecture, engineering, and operations for compute, storage, backup, virtualization, and enterprise platforms in a large-scale hybrid environment
- Drive platform modernization, innovation, and cloud transformation
, enabling high availability, resilience, security, and application scalability - Develop and implement a hybrid / multi-cloud strategy (AWS, Azure, GCP), balancing agility, performance, cost optimization, and security
- Partner with technology vendors and internal stakeholders to establish enterprise infrastructure standards
, global architectures, and operating models - Build and sustain a high-performing, inclusive leadership culture with strong accountability and continuous improvement
- Own multi-million-dollar infrastructure budgets
, optimize spend, and lead vendor negotiations and strategic partnerships - Coach and develop senior leaders and managers through performance management, feedback, and career development
- Executive ownership of enterprise-scale infrastructure supporting thousands of locations and a massive digital footprint
- Direct influence on cloud strategy, platform modernization, and digital transformation
- High visibility across technology, operations, and executive leadership

- 10+ years of experience leading large, complex infrastructure or platform engineering organizations
- 5+ years driving innovation, transformation, and modernization initiatives in enterprise environments
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead inclusive, high-performing teams
- Strong executive communication skills, including presenting strategy to non-technical stakeholders
- Deep expertise in Windows, Unix, Mainframe, enterprise storage, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience with cloud and on-prem identity management
- Strong background in business case development, portfolio planning, and large-scale program execution
- Excellent vendor management, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline
- Experience operating in retail, supply chain, logistics, or large distributed environments
- Exposure to global infrastructure operations and enterprise governance models
