  • Develops lesson plans that demonstrate the important concepts and skills in each subject area, as identified by the district’s curriculum.
  • Prepares lesson plans that incorporate best practice instructional strategies for each subject matter.
  • Uses a variety of Instructional resources and materials in planning engaging and differentiated activities that are structured to advance student learning.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs that are tailored to each student’s academic and social/emotional needs.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles, providing one-on-one or small group instruction based on student needs.
  • Designs a variety of student assessments that are aligned with the learning outcomes, using both formative and summative assessments to:
    • Monitor student progress toward the learning outcomes;
    • Monitor student progress toward their IEP goals; and
    • Adapt instruction for the whole class, individuals, or small groups of students.

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with special education (LBSI) and bilingual (BSPA) endorsements.

  • Individual must be flexible, creative and child centered.
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed.
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Strong knowledge of the WIDA and Common Core State Standards, and instructional best practices in language, literacy, and mathematics.
