The bilingual teacher provides direct instruction in both English and Spanish for English Language Arts and collaborates with general classroom teachers using a co‑teaching model to support students in math, social studies, and science. The teacher plans and co‑teaches engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and are modified to meet diverse student needs. Assessment, progress monitoring, and communication with parents, staff, and administrators are key responsibilities.
Two eighth‑grade positions are available for the 2026‑2027 school year.
- Develop lesson plans that demonstrate knowledge of core subject concepts and deliver instruction in English and Spanish.
- Incorporate best‑practice instructional strategies to support academic development and bilingual proficiency.
- Create rigorous learning outcomes aligned to the district’s curriculum.
- Use a variety of instructional resources to plan rigorous, differentiated activities that advance learning.
- Design assessments aligned to learning outcomes, using formative and summative tools to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
- Promote positive relationships with students.
- Maximize instructional time by establishing efficient routines, guiding instructional groups, and managing transitions.
- Manage classroom behavior by communicating expectations, monitoring behavior, and responding respectfully to misbehavior.
- Enhance the learning environment by arranging the classroom to support instruction and using technology to engage students.
- Use questioning and discussion strategies to engage critical thinking, encourage connections, challenge explanations, and assess understanding.
- Engage students in intellectually challenging activities that encourage reflection on learning.
- Reflect on instructional practices to improve teaching and learning.
- Communicate frequently with families about classroom instruction, student progress, and ways for families to support learning.
- Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with middle school education and bilingual (BSPA) endorsements.
- ELS(TBE) license holders will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of WIDA, state standards, and instructional best practices in language, literacy, and mathematics.
- Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom and the ability to integrate technology.
- Flexible, creative, student‑centered instructional approach.
- Ability to assess student learning, modify instruction, and analyze data for instructional decisions.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish.

- Salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Qualified candidates may receive credit for up to twenty years of verified full‑time teaching experience.
