Qualifications- Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in elementary education (Grades 1-6) or early childhood education (Birth-Grade
2). - Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction.
- Flexible, creative, child-centered approach.
- Ability to assess learning and modify or enhance instruction as needed.
- Ability to analyze data and use information to make instructional decisions.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based, varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
- Strong knowledge of state learning standards and instructional best practices in literacy and mathematics.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Prepares lesson plans that incorporate best-practice instructional strategies for all core content areas.
- Develops learning outcomes that are rigorous and aligned to the district’s curriculum.
- Uses a variety of instructional resources and materials to plan engaging, rigorous, and differentiated activities that advance student learning.
- Designs a variety of student assessments aligned with learning outcomes, using formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and adapt instruction for whole class, individuals, or small groups.
- Promotes positive and supportive relationships with students and fosters a classroom culture of learning and hard work.
- Maximizes instructional time by establishing efficient classroom routines, guiding instructional groups, and managing transitions.
- Manages classroom behavior by communicating clear expectations, proactively monitoring behavior, and responding respectfully to misbehavior.
- Enhances the learning environment by arranging the classroom for instruction and utilizing technology and resources to engage students.
- Uses questioning and discussion strategies to engage students in critical thinking, connections, conclusions, and argument development; assesses understanding.
- Engages students in challenging activities and provides constructive feedback to guide progress.
- Demonstrates flexibility by adapting lessons based on student feedback and interests and by incorporating alternative teaching methods for students who need help.
- Maintains accurate records of student grades, progress, assignments, assessments, attendance, and non-instructional records (e.g., permission slips).
- Communicates regularly with families about instruction, student progress, and how families can participate in learning.
- Contributes to the school community by collaborating with colleagues, participating in meetings and district/professional development, and supporting school/district initiatives.
- Starting salary of $53,279; salary is commensurate with education and experience; candidates may receive credit for up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience on the salary schedule.
