As a Laborer at Blue Island Recycling, LLC, your job will consist of assisting with the daily upkeep and organization of the yard by sorting, cleaning, and preparing scrap materials for processing. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety‑conscious, and willing to work outdoors performing general labor tasks.

NOTE:

The following position is for Night Shift.

• Sort and separate scrap materials by grade
• Remove contaminants or nonmetal items from scrap piles and storage areas
• Assist with preparing materials for processing
• Keep work areas, driveways, and walkways clean and free of debris
• Perform light maintenance and/or housekeeping tasks around the yard (sweeping, shoveling, clearing)
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
• Report any safety concerns, hazards, or equipment issues to supervisors
• Other duties as specified by management

• Prior scrap metal knowledge is not required, but preferred
• Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions
• Team‑oriented with a strong commitment to workplace safety and cleanliness.

• Outdoor industrial setting with exposure to loud noises, dust, and varying weather
• Frequent walking, bending, and lifting required
• PPE must be worn at all times while on site

• Full‑time position, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed / Night shift (12pm–10pm)
• Hourly pay with overtime opportunities ($17.25–$18.25/hr)
