Assistant Boys Tennis Coach – Community High School District 218
Position: Assistant Boys Tennis Coach
Reports To: Head Tennis Coach / Athletic Director
Stipend Category: IV (Assistant Coach; see contract Appendix II for placement)
Summary and
Purpose:
Support student-athlete development in tennis and assist the Eisenhower Athletic Department mission and vision statement.
- Assist the head coach in teaching tennis fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, travel, and related events.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practices, meets (home and away), and team functions.
- Support the head coach in planning practices, meet management, and conducting skill instruction.
- Monitor and enforce all eligibility, safety, and conduct requirements as established by IHSA, the school, and district policies.
- Chaperone and supervise athletes at all tennis events (including practices, meets, community gatherings, etc.), maintaining discipline and promoting a positive team environment.
- Maintain a safe environment and report injuries promptly to appropriate staff.
- Complete required paperwork, attendance logs, and communicate with parents and administration as needed.
- Attend coach meetings and required professional development as assigned by the athletic department.
- Availability to work in the off season.
- Assist with equipment management, set‑up, and breakdown for practices and meets.
- Attend community events (such as parades, fundraisers, etc.).
- Foster academic achievement, positive citizenship, and school spirit among student-athletes.
- Complete required first aid, CPR, and district coaching certifications as required by ISBE/IHSA and adhere to all training expectations.
- ISBE, ASEP, or NFHS certification required.
- Previous high school tennis coaching experience preferred.
Individuals hired from outside CHSD 218 as seasonal coaches or activity sponsors receive only the contractual stipend for the assignment. Board‑provided employee benefits (including health, dental, life insurance, leave, and participation in district retirement plans) are not available to external hires in these roles. For benefit eligibility, an individual must be a contracted district employee.
