Job Overview
The Party Chief is responsible for leading survey crews in the field, ensuring the accurate and efficient collection of survey data for various construction and infrastructure projects. This role involves direct supervision, technical expertise, and adherence to safety protocols and project specifications.
Job Responsibilities- Lead and supervise survey crews, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and guidance.
- Operate and maintain a variety of survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and levels.
- Conduct complex land surveys, including topographic, boundary, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
- Interpret and implement engineering plans, drawings, and specifications in the field.
- Perform calculations and data processing to verify survey accuracy and prepare field notes and sketches.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding survey progress and potential issues.
- Ensure all survey work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and applicable industry codes and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered in the field.
- Maintain accurate and organized field notes, data files, and equipment logs.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of survey instruments.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate's degree or certificate in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field preferred. - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Party Chief or equivalent in land surveying, preferably within the construction or utility industry.
- Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting of various survey equipment (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Topcon).
- Strong understanding of survey principles, methods, and calculations.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices.
